DO IT NOW! DON'T WAIT! THINGS GET DONE IN 2008!

New Habit for August 2008 - Laundry: A Load a Day Keeps the CHAOS Away

When we let things pile up our stress gets worse. Our laundry can be one of the biggest piles of stress on us. When we don't do our laundry; it is harder for us to get dressed each morning. Tempers start to flair while everyone is in a mad rush to get dressed and off to school.

If we have our laundry habit in place much of this stress disappears.

Our habit for August is getting a handle on our laundry and establishing a habit of doing one load of laundry every single day. If you don't need to do a load every day then just do a load every other day.

You can do this.

Missions for the Week: Zone 5 - The Living/Family Room

*******************

Zone 5: Mission # 1 Monday

Dear Friends:

We have a whole week in Zone 5! So, today you are going after the trash. Now you may think you have no trash in these rooms but look under the couch and the chairs. Lift up the cushions and check out what seems to magically get swallowed up in the couch. Check under the end tables and the coffee table. Set your timer for 15 minutes and grab a trash bag and start tossing. You will be surprised at how fast you can do this mission. I bet you all will have time left to spare!! Be careful not to lift things that are too heavy and awkward on your mission. Ask for help if you need it!

Love,
Kelly

PS. Don't forget that if you miss a mission in your emails you can always get them at our website. www.FlyLady.net and click on the Fly Zone. Not only can you get the missions here but you can also get the detailed cleaning list for the current Zone.

Zone 5: Mission #2 Tuesday

Dear Friends,

Today I want you to spend 15 minutes getting rid of anything that does not belong in your living room. Things that have gotten thrown in a corner, on a chair, or even the floor. The things that you almost don't even see because they have just become part of the room, get it out! If it does not belong there then out it goes!

This does not mean that you have to spend three hours in your living room, do what you can do for 15 minutes.

Kelly

Zone 5: Mission # 3 Wednesday

Dear Friends:

It is Anti-Procrastination Day and today we are going after the neglected areas of our living room/family room. Grab a feather duster or dust rag and go after the tops of door jambs, tops of pictures, molding, windows, corners of the ceiling and the tops of your curtains.

OH my it is amazing at what gathers higher up! I happen to be rather short, so I often forget to look UP! LOL! Now do not get obsessed and start tearing the room apart. Just look up and dust! If you have something with a long handle it makes this easier. A tip for those of you with high (Cathedral)ceilings: get a telescopic painting pole. This is a pole that you put a paint roller in to paint walls and ceilings. You drop the handle of your feather duster in it, secure it with a strip of duct tape and start dusting away! You can get these poles in most home improvement stores. You can also use PVC pipe in the same manner.

Have Fun!

Zone 5: Mission #4 Thursday

Dear Friends,

For today you are to take 5 minutes and dust the decorative items in your living room. The picture frames, lamps and knick knacks, this is a detailed dusting. Turn on the music and move quickly, you will be amazed at how fast you can to this!!!

Don't over think the mission, just do the mission! Have fun!

Kelly

Zone 5: Mission # 5 Friday

Dear Friends:

Today is our last day in the Living Room!

Let's have a detailed vacuuming session. This means to vacuum the room, making sure to get up against the baseboards and to get under the furniture. Please be careful that you don't hurt yourself trying to move furniture. If it is too difficult to get under the couch or chairs then just try to get as close to the base of the furniture as you can. Don't forget the corners!!

Have fun and don't get sidetracked!

Kelly
